Tuesday morning when my son and I left for school and work I decided to let the dog stay in the basement. It was windy and rainy and I feel bad when he is left outside when the weather is like that. In other words I am a sucker. A sad doggy face and a few raindrops is all I need to let him stay in while we are gone. I don't think I will be such a sucker the next time.
This is what I came home to...
This WAS his pillow!
The destruction continues to my son's room....apparently the door doesn't latch.
This looks bad but the worst was yet to come. My son has been diligently writing a book for the last year and a half. Almost the ENTIRE thing was on his memory stick which I found destroyed in the bedroom mess. It wasn't a complete loss because I had printed out a couple of copies about a month ago. BUT he has spent almost every evening editing, revising, and adding more chapters. ALL OF THAT IS LOST. I almost cried when I had to tell him. I don't know who was more upset. I am so proud of the work he has been putting into this book.
Austin's memory stick turned chew toy.
Austin working to re-write his book. He is NOT giving up.

Damn dogs! So sorry that you had all that loss and destruction. That's why our dog goes in the garage (which I know you need) and only gets a kong and an old rug. She's chewed up countless doggie beds, vacuum hoses, shoes, etc. I see on TV mystery shows that experts can get data off seemingly destroyed portable devices. Maybe that will work for your son's book. Now to find an "expert" short of CSI.
I asked his dad. The computer genius, and he said the memory card is a loss but he will look at it anyway (just in case) the next time my son is over there.
Just stopping by via Cynthia, hope you don't mind.
That is one destructive dog, it must be a puppy? As if the mess with the pillow wasn't bad enough, the mess in your son's room was horrible. I'm so sorry for your son and all of his hard work. He sounds like such a productive, accomplished young man. Good for him for keeping on regardless of the circumstances.
Linda - Thanks for stopping by. Everyone is welcome. And thank you for your comment. According to my son, he has the entire story memorized and will have no problem rewriting. I love his positive attitude. The dog is a year old and this is his first destructive episode. Hopefully, the last.
Ack! I can only imagine how heartsick you must have been. Austin has a GREAT attitude about it (and the dog should REALLY be grateful for that!)
Reason #112 why I refuse to get a dog- even one as cute as yours.
